About WATCH

photo : meetingWorking Actively To Change Hillfields (WATCH) is a community-led organisation based in the heart of Hillfields.

We are managed by a committee and we seek to secure, co-ordinate and manage resources for the social, economic and environmental improvement of the area, for the benefit of people living and working in Hillfields.

  • Our Employment project helps the long-term unemployed of the area, migrant workers from "new EU" countries, refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Our Community Development project gives advice and support to the 70 community groups active in Hillfields.
  • Our community radio station, The Hillz FM, has had numerous4-week FM licenses and has recently been successful in its application for a full time licence. If all goes to plan, Hillz FM should be on the air full-time around March 2009.  Between licences, we offer radio training for both adults and youth.
  • Our youth project has run recent courses on hairdressing and videography and offers employment advice for 14-19 year olds.

Our last Annual General Meeting took place on the 14th of November 2008, 2:30pm at St Peter's Centre, Charles Street, Hillfields. Our guest speaker was Councillor Dave Nellist.

We are currently assisted by the following funding bodies: LEGI, DAF, ESF (via the Hillfields Partnership Board), ERDF (via the Hillfields Partnership Board), Heart of England Community Foundation, NSF, NRF (via the Coventry Partnership), BBC Children in Need and Heritage Lottery Fund (Young Roots).
