History of Primrose Hill Park

WATCH and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust completed a joint project to research, record and produce work focused around the history of Primrose Hill Park in Hillfields.

Our project worker, Kate Smith,  engaged with young people from Hillfields and across Coventry to enable them to learn skills in the research and investigation of this interesting heritage site.

Over 100 young people  worked with Kate to develop materials recording the history and heritage of the park through the use of media. This resulted in an exhibition, material broadcast on radio, video diaries and a permanent record in Coventry City Archives.

Through work with local community groups, schools and youth organisations, the project helped to break down barriers between generations and increase awareness of local history.

The project was funded by Young Roots, part of the Heritage Lottery Fund and managed in partnership with specialist youth agencies.
